Riot police kettling protesters who tried to get on the railroad tracks near Lüneburg, Germany.
Protesters all along the route blocked the transport of highly radioactive waste to the intermediate storage facility in Gorleben. There, the waste has to cool down above ground for 30-40 years, before it can be stored permanently in a place yet to be defined. The salt mine below the facility has been examined for its suitability as a permanent storage, and remains the only location for currently discussed, even though facts say it is unsuitable and was only chosen for political reasons.

Amongst the group were also people dressed as clowns. They were among the first to be searched and released. Obviously they were too much of an annoyance.
